Exceedingly scarce Walther Model 4, usually termed the transitional Model 3/Model 4 by collectors, as its slide has most of the features of the Model 3 including the grooved sighting arrangement and manner of takedown. SN:31265. Cal: 7.65mm. This first variation Model 4, made during WWI, has a 3.5” barrel, fixed front sight, and grooved slide to act as rear sight. Barrel bushing has a small rectangular recess that aligns with the slide groove to position the bushing. Left side of slide with single line Walther address over banner. Crown/N proofing on barrel repeated on left side of slide and adjacent frame. Usual S/F safety detents. Full serial number on right frame behind trigger. Hard rubber grips, possibly from a later pistol, each panel with an intertwined “C/W” over a checkered field. Bottom release magazine with right side of body having seven indicator holes. Condition: Approximately VG original blue with moderate wear and spotting as pictured. Excellent original grips. Comparable condition magazine. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. The most desirable of all the Model 4s! A HISTORIC INVESTMENT! #A-906
