Walther P38, Mod HP, Rework. #A-1053
Walther P38 Mod HP that has been reworked and reissued to the postwar Austrian Military, later imported by Interarms. SN: 9087. Cal: 9mmP. Standard configuration Model HP with a 5” barrel having a drift adjustable front sight and inserted rear sight. Usual modified two line address on left side of slide; Eagle/N proof on right side. Full serial number on right side of frame. At some point, the gun was reworked and reissued to the Austrian military. In the process, it was reblued and restamped with the full serial number on the left side of the slide, frame and under the replaced barrel. Replacement locking lug, that is now blued, #781. Post war Austrian issue reflect by the “BH” marking on the left frame. Later imported by Interarms as marked above the serial number on the right side of the frame. Now fitted with black plastic serrated grips as usually fitted to 1944 pistols. Military magazine marked on the left side “P.38v”. Condition: Very good as reworked with sharp edge wear and thinning in expected areas. Mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics. An early gun whose markings underscore a very interesting history.
