Scarce, special order, Walther M1936 Olympia, with 9.5” Pentathlon barrel, bead profile front sight, straight trigger and extensively checkered grips. SN: 4816-O. Cal. 22LR. Unusual M1936 Olympia with adjustable front sight, special ordered to present a bead profile and windage adjustable rear sight. Long 9.5” barrel, as found on the Pentathlon pistols, grooved on lower surface for counterweights. Marked on left side of slide Walther Banner, “Waffenfabrik Walther Zella-Mehlis (Thur.)/Walther’s Patent”, “Olympia-Pistole”. SN on left side of slide, behind serrations, and on left tang. Right side of slide marked “CAL.22 long rifle”. Crown/N proof marks on right side of slide, frame boss and barrel. Special trigger is much less curved than usual. Extensively checkered wood grips whose pattern sweeps around the area usually left smooth for the thumb rest. Matching wood bottom magazine. PROVENANCE: Previously owned and white-highlighted by Warren Buxton who had photographed this pistol for inclusion in his still-unpublished book. CONDITION: At least 97% bright original glossy blue with same condition applying to the front strap. Heavily varnished grips with minimal oil staining and a scattering of superficial dings consistent with careful use. Comparable condition magazine. Mirror bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A really nice, no excuse, special order Walther Olympia that would grace any collection of target or pre-WWII era pistols. C&R. A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!   #A-1056
