Walther 1936 Olympia, 22 Short. #I-220
Scarce Walther 1936 Olympia in .22 Short with alloy slide, modified trigger, with issues. SN: 3442-O. Cal. 22 Short. Standard configuration M1936 Olympia with adjustable front and rear sights, 7.5” barrel. Marked on left side of slide Walther Banner, “Waffenfabrik Walther Zella-Mehlis (Thur.)/Walther’s Patent”, “Olympia-Pistole”. SN on left side of slide, behind serrations, and on left tang. Right side of slide marked “CAL.22 kurz”. Mixed Crown/N, Crown/U proof marks on right side of slide, frame boss and barrel. Discreet import marking on frame. Trigger has had a brass spacer soldered to the front face. Checkered wood grips with added checkering on thumb rest. Matching wood bottom magazine. CONDITION: Starter Condition, which is a nice way of saying “not so nice”. If you are a serious collector read no further…this one is not for you! For those who want a cheap Walther/project gun, you might want to consider this example. A little heat should allow you to melt the solder and remove the brass spacer. The trigger guard takedown, slightly sprung, could easily be re-bent to fit more flush with the frame. Biggest problem is that the barrel has ring bulge, about 2 inches back from the muzzle. So, if you want to shoot this gun, you should consider shortening the barrel behind the bulge and adding a new front sight. Although the manual mechanics are perfect, this is being sold as a parts/project gun, not to be fired “as is”. C&R. NOT A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!
