Savage 1907 Test Trials Pistol, Rework.
Rare and highly desirable Savage 1907 Test Trial pistol in .45ACP, reworked by Tryon, with original magazine. SN: 192. Cal:.45ACP. Standard configuration Savage 1907 pistol in .45 ACP made by Savage to compete against the Colt. Production limited to 288 pistols, this one is listed by serial number on page 261 in the book: "U.S" Military Automatic Pistols" by Scott Meadows. After the testing, the guns were largely sold and shipped to the Tryon & Company with almost all examples refinished and resold commercially. Part of the refinish included removing most of the slide legend, leaving only “ CAL .45”. The only other marking on the gun are the “SAFE” and “FIRE” at the rear of the frame. Disassembly shows a matching slide cap, frame and slide release. The slide and barrel are unnumbered. Perfectly contoured and beautifully checkered replacement grips each been numbered “192”. Original magazine “78” with blued housing and floorplate. Condition: Excellent Tryon rework with matte blue starting to fade. Bright original case hardening on trigger and release. Color and fit of grips as one might expect from originals. Near excellent finish magazine. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A great and historic Savage for less than half of what you would expect to pay for a comparable, original pistol. For more information regarding Savage .45 ACP pistols, click here.
