Luger, 1916 DWM Artillery, Military. #A-985
Very nice, all original finish DWM 1916 Artillery, early production, with no letter suffix. SN: 4994. Cal: 9mmP. Standard production DWM artillery with 8” barrel having fine tune front and rear sights. “1916” chamber date with intertwined “DWM” on middle toggle link and short sear bar. Major components are rust blued. Front sight, rear sight bar and grip screws are fire blued; take down lever, trigger, safety, ejector, and magazine release are strawed. Full serial number under barrel, on forward frame and on left side of receiver. Extensive disassembly shows all matching small parts, excluding the firing pin, but including both grips. Unnumbered fire blued rear toggle pin as is correct for this variation. Fitted with magazine whose plug is numbered 143. Condition: Approximately 97% bright original rust blue with minimal sharp edge wear and a scattering of small freckles under the barrel by serial number and on front and backstraps. Comparable condition strawed parts that show no suggestion of enhancement. Dark grips with sharp checkering. No cracks or chips. VG magazine. Dull bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. One of the nicer 1916 dated Artilleries that should please any collector of German small arms. A HISTORIC INVESTMENT! #A-985.
