German Luger, 1915 Artillery, SN: 17!
Super early, all original DWM 1915 Artillery. SN:17 with no letter suffix. Cal: 9mmP. Standard early production DWM artillery with 8” barrel having fine tune front and rear sights. “1915” chamber date with intertwined “DWM” on middle toggle link and long sear bar. Major components are rust blued. Front sight, rear sight bar and grip screws are fire blued; take down lever, trigger, safety, ejector, and magazine release are strawed. Full serial number under barrel, on forward frame and on left side of receiver. Extensive disassembly shows all matching small parts including the firing pin and each grip panel. Unnumbered fire blued rear toggle pin as is correct for this variation. Fitted with Erfurt proofed magazine numbered “1654”. Condition: Very good original rust blue finish with thinning and scattered freckling in expected areas from moderate field use. Comparable condition strawed and fire blued small parts, grip screws largely toned, that show no suggestion of enhancement. Original grips, oil darkened, with slightly blunted checkering. No discernible cracks or chips. Excellent magazine. Bright bore with strong rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. As serial number 17, this is one of the earliest 1915 dated Artillery Lugers! A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!
