Gorgeous FN Mauser Action Sporter, Deluxe grade, with fully adjustable Armstrong peep rear sight and bead front sight. SN: 10490. Cal. 30-06. Standard configuration FN Sporter Rifle, manufactured in Belgium 1947-1963 for U.S. sales. 24” barrel with drift adjustable bead profile front sight mounted on long matted ramp. Armstrong microadjustable rear sight, similar to the much more common Lyman, but with peep aperture. Large encircled “FN” logo on front receiver with Belgian proofs on left side followed by FN location in Herstal Belgium. Barrel is marked “Chrome Vanadium Steel”, “Made in Belgium” with the caliber designation and Belgian proofs near the receiver. In-the-white matching bolt with traditional safety. Walnut stock with generous forend and grip checkering, left side cheekpiece, plain bakelite grip cap, two sling swivels and FN logo buttplate. Major components with deep lustrous old world rust blue with bolt in-the-white and bolt release heated to a brilliant fire blue. Condition: Excellent+ original condition with negligible wear to any of the blued surfaces. Stock with original varnish has a few scattered handling dings and slight finish loss over the crest of the foreward comb. Minor losses on buttplate as photographed. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A beautiful early postwar FN Sporter whose quality eclipses all but the most expensive modern rifles. A HISTORIC INVESTMENT! #A-1095.
