DWM Luger, M1906, Royal Portuguese Navy.
Rare 1906 Royal Portuguese Navy, whose production was limited to approximately 300 guns in the serial number range 1-1000. SN:606. Cal: 9mmP. Standard configuration 1906 Portuguese Navy with 4” barrel, drift front sight and fixed rear sight. Chamber with deeply impressed RP/Anchor with the left side of the receiver unmarked. Full serial number under barrel and forward frame. All small parts matched “06”. Original walnut checkered grips have inspection marks but are unnumbered. Tinned magazine with unmarked plug. Major components are rust blued; takedown lever, trigger, safety and magazine release are strawed. Toggle pins and grip screws are fire blued. NO IMPORT MARKS! Condition: Approximately 70-80% original blue with holster wear and strap freckling as one might expect from a Naval pistol that saw service use. Strawed parts, with discoloration but no suggestion of touchup. VG oil stained grips with blunted checkering and scattered losses. The right grip having a hairline crack in the upper right corner. VG+ magazine. Surprisingly bright bore with strong rifling, dark grooves. Perfect manual mechanics. Although the condition is not on par with the majority of WWI or WWII pistols, this is one of the better original finish 1906 Portuguese Navy Lugers that you are likely to encounter. A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!
