Fabulous Colt 1911, Black Army pistol complete with all web gear accessories, including Mills double magazine pouch, as issued in WWI. SN: 513938. Cal: .45. Spectacular late example manufactured in 1918. Correct features include the borderless checkered hammer, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" above Serial number, type 5 Colt barrel marked "HP" in port area plus "G" in front of lugs, undercut milling on sidelock, flat mainspring housing, long trigger, distinctive black milled finish and double diamonded coarsely checkered grips. Trigger guard numbered "42", "S6" inspector mark, top of frame marked "3", "H" & "G". Inner slide on mid flat marked "G" at front and "9" at rear. In addition to the primary pistol magazine, the rig includes two spare magazines contained in the Mills pouch. Magazine maintenance reminder (likely enclosed in magazine pouch when new), now secured under new packing tape. Mills belt with black brass ends plus Mills double magazine pouch dated January 1919. Canteen pouch, dated 1918, marked "US" with LF&C 1918 canteen and cup; Brown leather holster marked "G.&K. / 1918 / A.G." with noosed rawhide strap. Verdigris on brass plus light scuffs and marks throughout top area. Condition: Spectacular original condition pistol with minimal sharp edge wear in expected places and slight thinning over mainspring housing. Areas of old/hardened oil residue, especially in recessed areas. Comparable condition grips and screws that are thinned over their domes. Primary magazine is in the same condition though there is slight denting on either side near top. Mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics. Spare magazines excellent with fine oxidative speckling. All canvas items and canteen very good to excellent. A gorgeous, Colt 1911 Black Army, complete with all original and correctly dated components as issued, sure to enhance the most advanced collection. A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!
